Three men were shot in the Shaw neighborhood early Sunday, Sept. 13, on a stretch of 9th Street NW near U Street where a fatal shooting occurred about a month earlier.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) responded to the 1900 block of 9th Street NW just after 3 a.m. and found all three victims with gunshot wounds, DC News Now reported. The men were conscious and breathing. Their injuries appeared non-life-threatening, according to police.

No arrests had been made as of Sunday morning.

MPD said investigators were searching for a male suspect wearing a white shirt, black pants and black shoes. He was last seen fleeing the scene in a white sedan. As of a DC News Now update at 7:09 p.m. Sunday, no arrest had been announced.

The shooting happened on the same corridor where a double shooting in August killed one man and injured another. That earlier violence prompted a community safety walk on Aug. 11, organized with MPD, Advisory Neighborhood Commission leaders and representatives from Mayor Muriel Bowser's office.

At that walk, Jawanna Hardy, a community organizer with Guns Down Friday, told WUSA9: "That bullet doesn't just hit one person - it hits an entire community."

MPD Capt. Gavin Nelson said at the time that police were adjusting patrol locations in response to the violence. Howard Garrett, an Advisory Neighborhood Commission leader in Shaw, argued during the same Aug. 11 walk that increased federal and National Guard presence had not curbed gun violence. He called for more investment in crime intervention and community organizations.

About a month later, the 9th Street NW corridor saw another shooting with three victims.

The identities and ages of Sunday's three victims have not been released. MPD has not announced a press conference or community meeting in response to the Sept. 13 shooting.
