The death of 2-month-old Khamyah Honesty has been ruled a homicide after police found her with blunt force injuries inside a Southeast D.C. apartment, the Metropolitan Police Department said.

MPD officers responded to the 800 block of New Jersey Avenue SE, in the Navy Yard neighborhood, just before 10 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 17, after receiving a call about an unconscious infant, according to WTOP. Inside the apartment, they found Khamyah unresponsive and suffering from blunt force injuries. DC Fire and EMS transported her to a nearby hospital, where she died.

On Wednesday, Aug. 19, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined the cause of death was blunt force trauma and ruled the manner of death a homicide.

No suspect has been identified. MPD said in a news release that detectives noted the case had "domestic overtones" but did not elaborate or name anyone connected to the investigation. The department has not provided further comment beyond the release.

The department's Special Victims Unit is investigating alongside the U.S. Attorney's Office. As of Thursday, Aug. 20, no arrest had been made and the investigation remained active, DC News Now reported.
