The Washington Mystics blew out the Phoenix Mercury 95-75 on Sunday, Aug. 9, stretching their winning streak to seven games and matching the longest single-season run in franchise history, according to the WNBA's Week 11 Power Rankings.

Sonia Citron was scorching. The guard went 7-of-9 from the field and 5-of-6 from beyond the arc, tying her career high with five three-pointers. She finished with 19 points, six assists and two steals.

Shakira Austin matched Citron's 19 points and added 11 rebounds for the double-double, anchoring Washington's 42-point effort in the paint, according to ESPN's game recap. Michaela Onyenwere and rookie Cotie McMahon chipped in 13 points apiece, while Kiki Iriafen contributed 12 points and nine rebounds off the bench.

Phoenix led 21-20 after the first quarter. Then the Mystics clamped down.

The Mercury shot just 12-of-34 (35.3%) in the second and third quarters combined as Washington opened the second half on a 12-0 run. Phoenix committed 16 turnovers that the Mystics converted into 18 points, and by the fourth quarter Washington's lead had ballooned to 22.

"I think the biggest thing is just pride," Mercury head coach Nate Tibbetts said postgame. "Just want to, competitive spirit and continuing to play."

It was the Mystics' first double-digit victory during the streak, which included a game in which they erased a 20-point deficit against the Dallas Wings on Aug. 5 for their fifth straight win. Austin scored 27 points with 13 rebounds in that one, and McMahon posted a season-high 18.

McMahon, the No. 11 pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft, has now scored in double figures in three consecutive games and six times this season. The Mystics also recently added veteran guard Betnijah Laney-Hamilton off waivers, waiving Rori Harmon to clear a roster spot.

At 19-12, Washington jumped from No. 7 to No. 3 in the league's power rankings, which noted the Mystics own a league-best 14-6 record in clutch games decided by five points or fewer in the final five minutes. Current standings projections slot Washington into a first-round playoff matchup against the Las Vegas Aces.

That projected opponent is up next. The Mystics travel to Las Vegas for a Tuesday, Aug. 11 tip at 10 p.m. ET, then face the Aces again Thursday before hosting the Los Angeles Sparks on Saturday.
