A man was shot and killed inside a home in Glover Park on Wednesday, Aug. 5, in what police say is an active homicide investigation with no suspect named.
Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to the 2500 block of 41st Street NW shortly before 8 p.m. after reports of a shooting, according to DC News Now reporter Makea Luzader. Officers found the man inside the residence, unconscious and not breathing.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
DC Fire and EMS responded and confirmed the death. MPD has not released the victim's name, age or any suspect information. The department has not described a motive or circumstances leading to the shooting.
Unusual violence for the neighborhood
The killing marks an uncommon act of violence for the residential Northwest neighborhood, which Hoodline described as one rarely touched by homicide. WUSA9 also confirmed that authorities are investigating the killing.
The shooting adds to a rising toll across the District. According to WJLA's reporting on MPD crime data, Washington had recorded 63 homicides in 2026 as of Aug. 4. MPD figures also show overall violent crime in the District increased 2% through July 27, even as total reported crime fell 20%, DC News Now reported in a separate analysis.
