The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is asking for the public's help finding Antoinette Forbes, a 53-year-old mother who disappeared from her Wesley Heights home.

Forbes was last seen Friday, Sept. 4, in the 3200 block of Nebraska Avenue NW, near American University. She last responded to a friend's text messages Saturday morning, Sept. 5, according to a family statement published by PoPville.

When a friend went to check on Forbes, the front door was unlocked. Her keys, phones, wallet, purse and pet dog were inside the house. Her car sat in the driveway.

The friend called police, suspecting foul play.

Forbes' sister, Aileen Forbes, told DC News Now she last spoke with Antoinette on FaceTime on Saturday. When Antoinette did not text back by Monday, Sept. 7, Aileen sent local friends to the house.

"She's not someone who would just disappear," Aileen Forbes said.

Aileen described her sister as a dedicated single mother to her 10-year-old son, Nathan, and a respected public affairs executive who has lived in the D.C. area for more than 30 years.

DC News Now reported that MPD officers were at Forbes' home Wednesday, Sept. 9, going in and out of the house, walking through the backyard and circling the block. A squad car sat outside with its lights on. MPD did not provide additional details when DC News Now reached out, the outlet reported.

MPD's missing person alert describes Forbes as an Asian female of Filipino descent, 5 feet 2 inches tall, 115 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Her clothing at the time she disappeared is unknown. The family's description lists her height and weight slightly differently, at approximately 5 feet 3 inches and 122 pounds.

MPD has not named a lead detective or released a formal case classification as of Thursday, Sept. 10.
