A 17-year-old boy died Tuesday after being shot inside a home in Southeast Washington.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department's (MPD) Sixth District responded to the 2700 block of Minnesota Avenue SE around 11:40 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, NBC Washington reported. They found the teen unconscious and not breathing with a gunshot wound.

D.C. Fire and EMS performed lifesaving measures at the scene before transporting him to a hospital. He was pronounced dead there.

Interim Chief of Police Jeffery Carroll told reporters the boy was shot inside a home and then went outside. Carroll confirmed a homicide investigation is underway. MPD's Violent Crimes Branch is investigating the shooting.

The victim's name had not been released as of Tuesday.

No arrests had been made as of Oct. 6. Police described the suspect as a male wearing all-black clothing with a white hood, according to WUSA9. No motive had been determined as of Tuesday.

MPD said in a statement reported by DC News Now that officers found an older juvenile male unconscious and not breathing with a gunshot wound. The department asked anyone with information to come forward.

Second teen killed in two days

The shooting came one day after 17-year-old Daniyah Ford of Hyattsville, Maryland, was fatally shot in a double shooting at the 3700 block of New Hampshire Avenue NW on Monday, Oct. 5. Police are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in Ford's case, Fox 5 DC reported.

Coolidge High School Principal Semanthe Bright remembered Ford as a "cherished" member of the school community, a student-athlete on the championship basketball team and a participant in the NAF Academy of Health Sciences. Bright shared those words in a letter sent to families on Oct. 5.
