Bombas, the sock-and-apparel brand built on a buy-one-donate-one model, will open its first Washington, D.C., store on Friday, Aug. 14, at 1400 Wisconsin Ave. NW, taking over the corner space at O Street that Dolce Vita vacated.
The opening, scheduled from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. according to the Georgetown BID's event listing, is part of a broader brick-and-mortar push for the brand. Bombas opened its first three physical stores in 2025 in New York, Boca Raton and Houston. Co-founders Randy Goldberg and David Heath launched the company in 2013 after learning socks were the most-requested item at homeless shelters. The brand has since generated more than $2 billion in lifetime sales and donated over 200 million clothing items through 4,000-plus giving partners, according to company materials.
"We founded Bombas in 2013 after learning that socks are the #1 most requested clothing item at homeless shelters, and trying to help solve that continues to guide everything we do," Goldberg said in a statement about the brand's retail expansion, published by Unity Marketing.
Georgetown is also the landing spot for Meermin Shoes, a family-owned Spanish brand specializing in handcrafted Goodyear welted footwear. Meermin opened at 3001 M St. NW, its first D.C.-area location, the Georgetowner reported on Aug. 3. The brand's only other U.S. store is on Mercer Street in Manhattan.
More openings ahead
Several additional concepts are in the pipeline for fall. Delhi Belly, an Indian street food restaurant focused on chaat, kebabs and chole bhature, plans to open within weeks at 1560 Wisconsin Ave. NW, the address that previously housed Oakberry, La Jolie Bleu Bakery, Bharati and Dolcezza.
Beso Besu, a Basque cuisine restaurant, is taking shape at 1228 31st St. NW inside Hamilton Collective. The project is a partnership between owners Claire and Ari Wilder and chefs Johnny Spero and Robert Aikins, with interiors by Rachel Aikins. The team also operates Georgetown's Le Bonne Vache, Kappo, Chaplin's and Zeppelin.
Jones Road Beauty, the clean beauty brand founded by Bobbi Brown in 2020, is headed to 3207 M St. NW in the former Blossom Daily coffee shop space. The brand topped $100 million in revenue by 2023 and plans to triple its store openings in 2026, according to an industry profile. No opening date has been announced.
Temporary closures
Not every change on the corridor signals a departure. Green Almond Pantry, chef Cagla Onal-Urel's Turkish-Mediterranean cafe and market at 3210 Grace St. NW, is temporarily closed for renovations. 7th Street Burger at 1424 Wisconsin Ave. NW shut down for approximately two weeks in August for its own refresh.
Corridor health
The activity fits a broader upswing. The Georgetown BID's 2025 Market Review tallied 57 new businesses opening in the neighborhood that year, with 25 net-positive openings, and projected 14 retail and restaurant arrivals for 2026, according to reporting by the District of Columbia Times. Georgetown attracted 13.2 million domestic visits in 2025, a 3 percent increase over 2024.
Bombas opens Aug. 14. Delhi Belly and Beso Besu are targeting fall timelines, and Jones Road has not set a public date.
