Free art, live music and open galleries will fill all eight D.C. wards on Friday, Sept. 11, and Saturday, Sept. 12, when Art All Night returns for its 15th year.

Citywide programming runs 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. each night, according to the DC Department of Small and Local Business Development. Last year's festival drew more than 250,000 attendees and featured over 1,200 artists and performers. The event is produced jointly by DSLBD, the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, the DC Public Library and the city's Main Streets programs.

Georgetown's celebration runs on a different clock. The neighborhood's Art All Night is Saturday only, 5:30 to 10:30 p.m., The Georgetowner reported. Georgetown Main Street is organizing the evening along the Wisconsin Avenue corridor, with galleries, restaurants and pop-up stages open between Shop Made in DC at 1304 Wisconsin Ave. NW and Washington Printmakers Gallery at 1675.

"Art All Night has grown so much over the years, and it's incredible to see it become part of the rhythm of the neighborhood and the way we welcome fall in Georgetown," Rachel Shank, executive director of Georgetown Main Street, said.

Tudor Place, 1644 31st St. NW, is a new venue partner this year. The historic estate hosts "Painting the Past," with sketching, painting and art from the archives, plus musicians in the Boxwood Ellipse from 6 to 7 p.m. At the Pit Stop Stage on the corner of Wisconsin Avenue and Q Street, students from Duke Ellington School of the Arts perform as "The WASH" from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., followed by Metronoma Band playing soul, funk and R&B from 8 to 9:30 p.m.

Other Georgetown highlights include Ethiopian coffee ceremonies on the hour at Cottage House Ethiopian Cuisine, a solo exhibition by Congolese artist JP Kiangu at Gallery Article 15 with live music by Nkumu Katalay, and a Makers Night Market run by Shop Made in DC at N Street Plaza, 3206 N St. NW. Georgetown Neighborhood Library, 3260 R St. NW, hosts a classic car show, DJ Wonder in the lobby and karaoke.

The event is free.

Beyond Georgetown, programming spans every ward. In Historic Anacostia, the Friday night celebration runs along Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SE and Marion Barry Avenue SE under the theme "Good Trouble. Louder!" The DC Public Library hosts The Block Party @ MLK at Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library on Saturday, featuring go-go, jazz, R&B and a silent disco.

DSLBD Director Rosemary Suggs-Evans said in a Tuesday, Sept. 1, press release that the festival is about bringing people into D.C. neighborhoods to experience local creativity and small businesses across the District.

Mayor Muriel Bowser called Art All Night a unique, distinctly D.C. celebration in a post on X on Wednesday, Sept. 2, and urged residents to plan their route at dcartallnight.org.
