More than 100 bands will play on porches and stages across Adams Morgan on Saturday, Nov. 7. Police plan to shut down several blocks for the free neighborhood music festival, which runs from noon to 5 p.m.
The Adams Morgan Fall PorchFest features performances on 20-plus stages spread across the neighborhood's residential and commercial streets, according to the event's official website. The festival is free, open to all ages and pet-friendly.
The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) issued a traffic advisory on Nov. 3 listing street closures from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Three streets will be posted as emergency no parking and closed to vehicles:
- 18th Street from Columbia Road to U Street NW
- Euclid Street from Columbia Road to Ontario Road NW
- Lanier Place from Ontario Road to Quarry Road NW
Columbia Road from Harvard Street to 19th Street NW may close intermittently for public safety.
Vehicles parked in violation of emergency no-parking signs will be ticketed and towed, according to MPD. The department and the District Department of Transportation warned that drivers near the event should expect delays and watch for heavy pedestrian traffic.
How to get there
Organizers urge attendees not to drive. The closest Metro station is Woodley Park/Adams Morgan on the Red Line, about a 10-minute walk across the Ellington Bridge. Columbia Heights station on the Green Line is also nearby.
Metrobus routes D72 and D74 drop riders in the middle of the neighborhood. The C51 and C53 buses will still run but will detour down Florida Avenue and back up Columbia Road before resuming their usual route. Ride-share services are another option.
For those who must drive, a Colonial parking garage behind 2421 18th St. NW is accessible from the alley entrance south of the garage off Kalorama Road, between 18th and Champlain streets.
Vendor markets and deals
This year's festival adds two vendor markets. Arts on Belmont features artists and makers on the 1800 block of Belmont Road. Vintage on 18th offers vintage clothing and other finds on the 2100-2200 blocks of 18th Street.
Dozens of Adams Morgan businesses are offering PorchFest discounts. Attendees can pick up a free wristband at any of three info tents: at the plaza at 18th Street and Columbia Road, near 18th and Belmont Road, and near 18th and California Street NW. Each wristband includes a QR code linking to an interactive event map.
Genres span bluegrass, rock, hip-hop and jazz, according to Northern Virginia Magazine.
All street closures and times are subject to change. MPD directs drivers to follow @DCPoliceTraffic on X for real-time updates.
